Digital Photography Lab 5

The objective of today's lab session was to put into practice the compositional tips that were in our Composition lecture.

I had to take photos based on the following compositional design elements:

  • Leading lines
  • Vertical lines
  • Horizontal lines
This photo is a horizontal lines photo.


This photo follows the rule of thirds. There is three different points of focus, the left, centre, and right side of the photo.


These two photos follow the same theme with the focus point being in the top right of the photo. The blue can is the focus point of the photo and viewers are drawn to it rather than the green and grey colours in the picture.

The same idea applies here with the focus point being pulled to the right side of the picture.


This picture has a balance of colours throughout, the main focus point being bottom half of the person. The colours in the background spread the focus point creating a very colourful balanced picture.
